Skill India : The magic wand to tap global and local possibilities
India has a plethora of talent in it and Indians are hired for their skills all over the world. We have produced geniuses and are still doing so. However, we have not been able to market demands by producing the work force with the particular skill sets needed for our society, nor for the world outside. This lack in skill sets have made Indians not being able to procure jobs in the global market as well. Therefore, the requirement and importance of skill sets are being recognized in India for tapping global opportunities.
This led to the launch of Skill India or the National Skills Development Mission of India in 2015. It was done to ensure that industry demands are met by the workforce by applying the necessary skills. Various initiatives were launched under Skill India like- National Skill Development Mission, National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (2015), Skill Loan scheme Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and Skill Development in Rural India.
Skill India’s aim is not to simply make India a talent pool for global opportunities, but also to empower its youth and its future for the sake of the country. This will finally lead to India being the most dominant superpower in terms of providing skilled workers in every sector possible as it is the largest initiative for making skilled individuals in such a vast and heterogeneous country.
Then again Skill India Mission 2.0 will be a total game changer as it has been reimagined, understanding the urgent need to create a reliable and qualified workforce. It will help in increasing the skill set and employability of India’s youth that has decreased in the past two years due to COVID 19 pandemic. Lack of infrastructure and lack of skilled trainers have been identified by Skill Indian Mission 2.0. It will further help in making India the largest skilled country in the world. On the other hand, India is at an advantage because it has a larger set of millennial population than other developing or developed countries and just by providing proper skill sets, will give the global market the opportunity to hire more and more numbers of Indian workers. Therefore, the future of India’s workforce looks very promising and bright with Skill Indian Mission 2.0.
